Dr. Shelby Tweto’s journey into chiropractic care started with her first adjustment when she was 10 years old. She loved learning about the body and health at every chiropractic visit and maintained regular visits throughout her youth. She later studied biological anthropology and modern dance at the University of Oregon in Eugene, where she met another chiropractor who was inspirational and encouraged her to investigate Chiropractic as a career. Later she attended Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri, where she graduated with a B.S. in Human Biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2005.
Her educational focus initially was in prenatal and pediatric chiropractic care, bringing this extensive training into her first practice in Missoula, Montana. It was in her practice that she first experienced the joy of caring for babies from their first day of life through early stages of development, middle and high school years and adulthood. She found that the early treatment of injuries prevented poor movement patterns and compromised neurological connections from developing. Currently, she enjoys working with children and adults to optimize correct movement patterns and neurological connections through chiropractic care and patient education.
She believes that eating well, moving well, and thinking well are the drivers of health and vitality. She incorporates these drivers into her patient care by teaching patients about their health and bodies enabling them to make choices that allows them to thrive. She uses a variety of different techniques (manual as well as gentle instrument adjusting) in her practice, tailoring each visit to an individual’s specific needs for optimal health. A well-functioning nervous system is the foundation of optimal health. As a care provider, she will begin with neurologic, orthopedic, and lifestyle exams. She will provide a report of findings and collaborate with you to meet your health goals. During regular chiropractic care she will look for and treat movement restrictions (subluxations) in the spine and extremities that interfere with the body’s ability to heal and to adapt to everyday stressors. She will tailor her chiropractic technique to your needs, and she will give you tools that will empower you to take charge of your health. She will meet you where you are in your health journey and will help you reach your full potential.
